Dream Diaries – #7

This dream I had is probably one of most vivid and enjoyable dreams I’ve had to date. There was part of the dream that happened before what I’m about to describe but I can’t remember it unfortunately, I say it was unfortunate because it was how the dream began (or was it?).

Dream Diary #7 – Battle In The Mega-Mall

I found myself with squad of soldiers or mercenaries, I’m not entirely sure. We were in a car chase being pursued by the authorities, but they weren’t the police. I watched as we drove through lawns, broke through picket fences… Until we made our way to the entrance of some sort of mega-mall. This mall was vast, I’d say it was almost like a city center in its own right. We didn’t go through the front entrance but instead we somehow made our way to some underground passage that led in to the mega-mall.

As I was making my way through these dark tunnels we came to a fairly wide set of stairs with a door-like entrance to right that had a spiraling staircase leading upwards. As we approached the stairs we were met with resistance. Before I could see exactly who our opponents were one of my allies opened fire and took down the enemies. My allies pushed up the main staircase but I took the door on the right. I made my way up those stairs and found three people lying on ground, one of which had an assault rifle. I believe it was an M4A1 so I took it for my own use, however I didn’t take any of the ammo.

A First Analysis – Clockwork Constructors

I’ve never written a blog post discussing things I’ve programmed and I thought it would be a good idea to try it out, I’ve heard that it brings good things. I don’t really know where to start with regards to discussing so I suppose I’ll talk about how I started designing Clockwork Constructors, but first a story…

This idea of Clockwork Constructors branched off of a desktop application I had made in C# called the (legacy) Plugin Constructor. I used Microsoft Visual Studio to make it, and that was actually the first time I had used the program.

Dream Diaries – #5, 6, and 7

So it’s been quite awhile since I’ve done any Dream Diaries, so I’ve had some of my dreams just adding up to the to do list. I figured now would be a good time to blog about it.

Dream Diary #5 – Ongoing Journey

I recall the location I was at. It was at my family’s farm in the back barn, specifically right by the hydraulic control system for our alleyway scraper (it moves manure towards the manure pit). I know the location well: There’s two gates for either alley, headlock gates on one side where the cows and heifers can eat, stalls where they can rest or sleep on the other side, two garage doors behind the gates, etc.

When I was there, I noticed there was many valuable items, valuable to me that is, sitting in front of me between the two gates in a place that would be out of reach for the heifers that would’ve been within the gated area. For some reason, there was no heifers around, not much of anything really. It was just me, these valuable items, and my surroundings. I didn’t do anything with these valuable items, I just saw them sitting there scattered around.

Then my dream flashed to a sort of cabin way off in the woods. It was a modest cabin and it felt comfortable to be in, it set me at ease. I flashed back to the barn, but I found myself on the farm’s Polaris Ranger (a 4×4 utility vehicle we’d use for work). I started driving back through the fields to reach that cabin I had seen, but I knew that I wasn’t getting any closer to it. I was just travelling, getting nowhere.

Then I woke up.

Refining Rule, Day 402 – A Kingdom Has Risen

Controlled Territory, Day 402

Alas, we start again! I’ve decided to blog about this playthrough later into the game so that I don’t end up repeating myself.

For simplicity sake I’ve numbered areas on the map by districts. So the lower the number, the longer I’ve held that land. I plan to divide the districts up by towns and their surrounding area.


When I started this game I journeyed far and wide trying to get as much money as possible until I could start creating my own businesses. Once I gathered enough money I set out to create dyeworks in as many towns as possible so that I could get enough passive income to support my army (it was mostly comprised of Swadian troops).

Once I formed enough power I took Maras Castle (owned by the Kingdom of Rhodoks, aka the green guys) and formed the Kingdom of Arjello. From there it was a slow climb in capturing surrounding castles, and then I finally took Yalen. Once I had Yalen, my power was solidified.

I made peace where possible until my economy improved and my forces grew. From there I went north (to the left in the picture of the map seen above) and exploited Swadia’s constant wars. The Kingdom of Swadia was largely distracted by ongoing wars with other kingdoms so it was quite easy to take the closest castles and of course Praven.

Refining Rule, Day 402 – A Kingdom Has Risen

Digging Up Relics – Life As A HL2:RP Player

So I was digging around my old projects I did back in high school and found my guide for HL2RP named “Life As A HL2:RP Player”… *shiver*

Needless to say it was quite enjoyable to look at having thought I accidentally deleted it and leaving it to the void of my memory. I had an interesting view of the HL2RP gamemode (made using a framework called Clockwork that was made for Garry’s mod). For those that know of HL2RP, it will be easy to understand that I thought the Combine was some random police force that had a major hate-boner for random Citizens and got increasingly hateful the higher ranked they were.

The actual guide is made with Adobe Flex Builder (something I worked with in Grade 10 and 11). It was a useful tool for some things I worked on back then, but since then I’ve moved on to using other tools.

Seeing Games Again

For a time I hadn’t been so consumed with video games, probably a solid year by now. Recently I’ve rediscovered the joy of playing video games, a joy I thought I’d never find again.

For a time I felt nothing when trying to play a game, if I even decided on which game to play. I would spend time scrolling through a list of games I could play lamenting about all the fun I had playing that particular game, wondering if I’d ever have as much fun like that again.

There was a wall in front of me, and when I’d look for a way around I’d only see the wall again. I can tell you now that there’s no longer a wall. What there was was more so a handicap of the sort preventing speedy passage. You could say I was trying to run through water, I the beholder of what once was, the water the games. I should’ve been in a boat with a paddle, doing things the right and fast way to get across.

I was supposed to post this awhile ago but didn’t get around to it. As of late I’ve just been enjoying games and what not, such fun!

How I Got My Actual Name Back For Twitter

A strange thing happened today.

I was reading (as I tend to do) on how to go about claiming a Twitter username that is your own actual name. The account I looked up (specifically named JonathanDroogh) had been suspended and so I went about a method I found online on how to claim it.

As I was in the process of putting in the claim the username became available again, and now my Twitter username is @JonathanDroogh respectively.

First Beginnings, Day 216 – Victory & Defeat


It appears I’ve lost.

I had conquered two castles since my last post and was on my way to securing Swadia’s West end (near the mountains). I had control over one of the castles in the mountain passes and was about to take a castle more inwards to Swadia that was taken by an enemy previously.

I failed, and everything began to crumble. My castles went under siege, my town (Ayikke) has remained looted up ’til this day. Having no soldiers in reserve and little money to my name, I felt now would be a good time to end this play through.

The timing is actually quite nice by ending this play through at the end of the month. I think I’ll start a new play through on this game every month to see how far I can get, and who knows? Maybe I’ll switch up the games every month too.


New Game:

For my next game I think I’ll take a more nomadic approach. I’ll be focusing on getting around quickly, building up my economy, and then starting my own kingdom.
